NAMI Programs in Spanish in Contra Costa County
Because of language and cultural barriers, including misconceptions, not many Latinos know about this organization, not to mention that they should seek and get the help from NAMI they may need. A Latino family with a member suffering from a mental illness usually lives in the dark and feels hopeless.
The family often feels lonely, helpless and desperate. A strong social stigma prevents them from leading a normal life or getting in touch with other people. With the above understanding and with a service mentality, we established the LatinX group at NAMI CC. Our goal is to help Latinos with mental illness and their families, even if they are in a difficult situation so they can find hope and helpful resources.
We offer programs in Spanish such as: Professional Mental Health Workshops, Support Groups and Courses such as Family to Family, etc. Attending any of these NAMI CC activities is free. We sincerely hope that Latino families who have loved ones living with mental illness will participate in all of these programs to help their families and themselves.

Debido a las barreras del idioma y la cultura, incluidos los conceptos errĆ³neos, no muchos Latinos conocen esta organizaciĆ³n, sin mencionar que deben buscar y obtener la ayuda de NAMI Contra Costavque puedan necesitar. Una familia Latina con un miembro que padece una enfermedad mental generalmente vive en la oscuridad y se siente desesperada.
La familia a menudo se siente sola, desamparada y desesperada. Un fuerte estigma social les impide llevar una vida normal o ponerse en contacto con otras personas. Con la comprensiĆ³n anterior y con una mentalidad de servicio, establecimos el grupo LatinX en NAMI Contra Costa. Nuestro objetivo es ayudar a los Latinos con enfermedades mentales y a sus familias, incluso, si se encuentran en una situaciĆ³n difĆcil para que puedan encontrar esperanza y recursos Ćŗtiles.
Ofrecemos programas en EspaƱol como: Talleres Profesionales de Salud Mental, Grupos de Apoyo y Cursos como De Familia a Familia, etc. Incluso, todos los cursos y programas de NAMI Contra Costa son gratis. Esperamos sinceramente que las familias Latinas que tienen seres queridos que viven con enfermedades mentales participen en todos estos programas para ayudar a sus familiares y a ellos mismos.
